EnergySolutions is home to Utah Jazz, the NBA team. During the Winter Olympics of 2002 that was held in the facility, the arena was called Salt Lake Ice Center. The construction of the venue that cost million was finished in 1991. The first game to be hosted in the arena was a game between the Peoria Rivermen and Golden Eagles. The latter also played a game in inauguration opening of the Salt Palace in 1969.
Several events have been hosted in the venue including mens basketball tournaments such as the Western Athletic Conference in 1993-1995, in addition to the NBA All-Star Game of 1993. In 1997 and 1998, Chicago Bulls and Jazz played NBA Finals in the arena. Also, the venue hosted championships of US Figure Skating in 1999 as well as short track speed skating and figure skating.
The venue has been renovated by a cost of about ,757,000 after the damage caused by a harsh winds of Salt Lake City Tornado. A number of WNBA teams have been taken the arena as their home including Salt Lake Golden Eagles that played their games there between 1991 and 1994, and Utah Grizzlies between 1995 and 1997, as well as the Utah Starzz that were based in the arena between 1997 and 2002. Statues of 2 largely estimated players in the history of NBA John Stockton and Karl Malone are found outside the arena.
